How the Process Works for 2026

Step 1: Wait for a formal request

Personal tax returns are prepared only after you receive a formal request for information through Karbon, our secure client portal.

Requests are issued in stages to manage workflow efficiently:

  • February 20 – clients with investment income or RRSP activity
  • March 25 – clients without investment income or RRSP activity

You will be contacted by email when it is time to proceed.

Please do not upload documents before receiving a request, as early or partial submissions may delay processing.

Step 2: If you are ready earlier

If you already have your information and would like to proceed before your scheduled request date:

  1. Complete the Personal Tax Readiness Checklist below
  2. Email me once the checklist is complete
  3. I will send you the formal request through Karbon

Documents should be uploaded only after that request is issued.

Important 2025 tax dates

For reference:

  • CRA e-file opens: February 23
  • RRSP contribution deadline: March 1
  • Personal tax filing deadline: April 30

Meeting these deadlines does not require submitting information immediately in January or early February. You will be contacted when your return is ready to be initiated.

Why this process matters

Using a request-based system:

  • Reduces missed or duplicated information
  • Improves turnaround time
  • Keeps communication clear and centralized

Authorize Online
